Meet Jen

ABOUT

Jen Hughes grew up in the suburbs north of Boston. As the youngest of three, she spent much of her time playing with art supplies, usually gravitating towards construction paper and collage masterpieces that landed her a prime spot on the refrigerator door.  Jen always loved crafting and even took drawing and stagecraft classes while earning her undergraduate degree at Colgate University. After college, Jen began a finance career living in both New York City and Boston.

Jen married her husband in 2009 and they welcomed their first daughter (of four!) in 2011. With her new role as a stay at home mom, Jen filled her days painting house portraits for friends and neighbors.  A move to Houston, Texas in 2014 lead to a collection of whimsical animal paintings and eventually Jen became involved with her daughter’s preschool to create class auction projects.  Those pieces quickly became a top fundraiser and started getting noticed by other schools and charities around Houston.  Over the past several years, Jen’s auction collaborations have fundraised over $100,000!  These sales helped Jen land several local commissions, and eventually she attended her first art show in Nashville in the spring of 2024.  Jen’s booth of brightly colored mixed media pieces at The Harding Art Show quickly emptied and she’s been working on commissions and new collections ever since.

Jen’s multidimensional compositions are filled with color and bring together an assortment of pieces that are meaningful to her collectors.  Whether she is painting custom objects or arranging florals and butterflies, Jen’s designs incorporate a unique contemporary display and are the perfect compliment to any interior space!
